My name is Josh Massie, and I'm a photographer living in Pittsburgh, PA!
Born and raised in the Lone Star State, I developed an aggressive passion for the arts starting in middle school. I was, and continue to be largely inspired by music, with roots in small town music scenes, and punk rock bands. My interests in photography began around the same time from flying through disposables to point-and-shoot cameras. My primary focus was always on the local Texas bands/scene, friends, and experiences that made up our adolescent lives.
In the summer of 2009, I fulfilled a life-long dream of touring the country with a band called Fake Problems. Those tours brought about many firsts for me, and I did everything I could to document them, capturing photos and video of places I was seeing for the first time, without knowing if I'd ever get another chance to document them.
Fast forward to today, and my touring experiences have doubled tenfold, and expanded my portfolio to international levels. As my experience behind the lens continued to grow, and opportunities arose to shoot friends in bands I never imagined I'd have at 16, I moved to Pittsburgh to start a new chapter, fueling new focus and energy into my photography. Thus, with the combination of art, music, and a few lyrics from one of my favorite Green Day songs, Scattered Pictures was born.
"Open the past and present, and the future too... It's all I've got, and I'm giving it to you."
